Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. The short version

Your estimates, contracts, emails, and project details are private to you. We do not tell the contractors you upload that a homeowner compared them. We do not sell your personal information. We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve the service and to build California market pricing intelligence.

2. What we collect

  • Estimates you upload — PDF files, photos, or manually entered data, including contractor names, license numbers, line items, scope, and prices.
  • Your email address — to deliver the report and send you transactional messages about your report.
  • Payment information— processed by Stripe. We never see your full card number. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that data.
  • Project metadata — project type, zip code, square footage, and timeline that you provide or that we extract from your estimates.
  • Optional contract uploads — if you use the Contract Review feature.
  • Usage data — pages you visit, buttons you click, and technical logs (user agent, IP, timestamps). No third-party tracking cookies.

3. How we use your data

  • Generate your Pro Report and deliver it to you
  • Verify contractor licenses against the California CSLB
  • Look up public business information (Google Places, Yelp, court records)
  • Improve the service and train our models using aggregated, anonymized data
  • Build California market pricing intelligence from anonymized project data
  • Contact you about your report or to respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. What we DON'T do

  • We do not tell contractors they were uploaded.A contractor you uploaded will never receive a message from us saying “a homeowner compared your estimate.”
  • We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, marketers, or anyone else.
  • We do not share your report with the contractors you uploaded or with any other party, except as required by law.
  • We do not use your email for marketing without your explicit opt-in.

5. Contractor outreach (important)

California contractors operate under public licenses. As part of our business, we operate a separate contractor platform (useopsite.com) and we may reach out to California contractors directly to offer them our tools, training, and sales enablement services.

A contractor whose estimate you uploaded might, completely independently, receive an Opsite marketing email from the contractor side of our business. That outreach will never mention you, your project, your comparison, or the fact that an estimate was uploaded. It's the same kind of outreach any California contractor might receive based on their public CSLB listing.

If you object to any California contractor receiving any marketing outreach from Opsite, we recommend not using the comparison service — though we'd likely reach out to that same contractor regardless.

6. Data retention

  • Estimates and Pro Reports: kept indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them
  • Email address: kept until you ask us to delete it
  • Payment records: 7 years, per IRS requirements
  • Aggregated, anonymized market data: kept indefinitely

To request deletion of your data, email support@useopsite.com.

7. Third parties we share data with

  • Anthropic — to generate AI analysis (your estimates are sent to Claude to produce the report)
  • Google — Places API lookups for contractor reviews
  • Yelp — Fusion API lookups for contractor reviews
  • UniCourt — court records lookups
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Supabase — secure cloud database hosting

Each third party has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for them to perform their service.

8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, but you can still exercise your other rights by emailing support@useopsite.com.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices (HTTPS, encrypted database at rest, signed URLs for file access). No system is 100% secure — if we learn of a breach affecting your data we'll notify you as required by California law.

10. Children

This service is for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the service, please contact us.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy from time to time and post the new version here with a fresh “Last updated” date. Material changes will be emailed to users with an active report.
